School Parliament

Ysgol Merllyn  Parliament

At Ysgol Merllyn, our School Parliament gives pupils a real voice in shaping school life. It has 18 dedicated members—including an elected Prime Minister and Deputy. Our Parliament represents the views of all students and works together to make a positive impact on our school.

We have four key ministries—Enterprise, Health & Wellbeing, Education, and Citizenship—our young leaders meet regularly to discuss ideas and launch new initiatives. Recent projects include introducing a buddy bench to promote friendship, enhancing our recycling efforts, developing a school garden, and leading fundraising events such as our Christmas Fayre and Valentine’s Disco.

Our Parliament also engages with the wider community, it makes regular contributions to our school newsletter, it creates and sends  out  surveys to help with our research  and welcomes visitors  to our school. Our Parliament has also reached out to our local Senedd member Hannah Blythyn, who recently met with our Prime Minister and Deputy.  When first elected, she personally congratulated them on their successful election campaign!

Together, our School Parliament ensures that every pupil has a voice and helps make our school a better place for all!
